Hit the books

開始學(xué)習(xí)

Meaning: to study

意義：學(xué)習(xí)

Example: I can’t go out this weekend, I have to hit the books because an exam is coming up.

這個周末我不能出去，因為考試就要來了，我不得不看書。

Piece of cake

小菜一碟

Meaning: something easy

意思是：簡單的事情

Example: This test was a piece of cake. I didn’t have to study so much!

這次考試是小菜一碟，我用不著學(xué)那么多！

Pitch in

努力投入

Meaning: contribute, help out

意思：貢獻，幫助

Example: Although Mary was in our group she didn’t pitch in with the project.

雖然瑪麗在我們組，但她沒有參與這個項目。

Ring a bell

聽起來熟悉

Meaning: sound familiar

意思：聽起來很熟悉

Example: Ben didn’t cover all the material for the exam. Most questions didn’t ring a bell for him.

本沒有看完所有的考試材料，大多數(shù)問題他都不熟悉。

Skip class

逃課

Meaning: not go to class

意思是：不去上課

Example: Lee had to go to the doctor’s this morning so he skipped class.

Teacher’s pet

寵兒

Meaning: a student who is favored by the teacher

意思是：受老師寵愛的學(xué)生

Paul is the teacher's pet as he always polishes the apple.

保羅是老師面前的紅人兒，因為他總是拍老師的馬屁。

To be under the weather

身體不舒服

Meaning: to fill ill

含義：生病

Example: I’m under the weather. I think I’ll skip class.

我不舒服，我想我不能去上課了。

With flying colours

出色完成

Meaning: with distinction, successfully

意義：與眾不同，成功

Example: I passed my final exam with flying colours.

我以優(yōu)異的成績通過了期末考試。
